San Francisco Theater Festival A Smash Hit on a Beautiful Sunday

San Francisco, July 30, 2009 The 6th annual San Francisco Theater Festival was the biggest ever, with an estimated 10,000 people attending the all day event. The sunny pleasant weather was a remarkable break from recent fog and clouds. An enthusiastic crowd of over 2,000 watched the featured attractions, Wicked and Beach Blanket Babylon, in the beautiful outdoor setting of the Yerba Buena Gardens.

The free festival one-day massive celebration of live theater had 130 performances indoor and outdoor, encompassing 17 venues in: Yerba Buena Gardens, YB Center for the Arts, Zeum, Metreon, the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), and the new Contemporary Jewish Museum (CJM).

"It was an amazing day of live theater. Many, many people experienced theater they would never normally see. Some will buy tickets in the future to those groups or solo performances," said Bill Schwartz, producer.

The festival included diverse performances, under 30 minutes, of comedy, drama, solo, new works, musical theater, improv, children’s shows.

The San Francisco Theater Festival is presented in partnership with the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival.
