
The 6th annual San Francisco Children's Theater Festival, a free one-day celebration of live theater on Sunday, July 26, 2009, will feature world renowned juggler and clown, Unique Derique; award-winning magician, Zappo; juggler and comic, Fred Anderson; illusionist, Brian Scott; juggler-acrobat, "The Keith Show," and Tye the Magic Guy.
In addition, the festival will include circus arts, clowns, puppets, folktales, Oakland Public Conservatory's Youth Marimba players, Willows Theatre Conservatory, Young People's Teen Musical Theatre, Opera Piccola, Wily West Productions, Solano College Touring Company, and Thomas John & his daredevil marshmallows.
The festival, which consists of 33 shows (under 30 minutes) on 3 nearby stages, will take place at the Yerba Buena Gardens and the Zeum children's museum. It is held in conjunction with the San Francisco Theater Festival and in partnership with The Buddy Club. There are a total of 138 shows on 17 stages.
The SF Theater Festival began in 2004 and has become an important showcase for theater groups and performers, as well as one of the Bay Area's most popular one-day free summer festivals. In addition to the many and varied children's shows, presentations include drama, comedy, one-acts, excerpts, scenes, musical theater, solo performers, improv, new works, workshops, opera, etc.
